Details below for the Swan Hill Weekend and Milton’s Meander
Milton’s Meander Saturday October 5th 2019.
Welcome to what we hope is an enjoyable drive through the spring country side even though it is in drought conditions. The drive will be over good sealed roads and hopefully the directions won’t get you lost. There is a Service Centre on the M79 for fuel, food etc at Ravenswood before the turn to the A790.
Leaving Woodend after coffee, continue out of town and join the Calder Freeway M79.
At approx 64 km’s take the A790 (Mildura, Marong) on your left.
After travelling for approx. 11 Km’s and passing through Lockwood South on the way. turn left to the C277 (Maryborough).
Follow the C277 for approx 32 KM’s crossing over the Loddon River on the way. 300 metres before turning right to the C276 (Dunolly) there is a brown Goldfields sign on your left.
At the angle T intersection on the outskirts of Dunolly turn right into C278 and travel through Dunolly. Public toilets at Town Hall on left opposite the Pub.
Approx 14 km’s after Dunolly at Moliagul Public toilets on right. Travel another km to T intersection and turn left into B240 (St Arnaud).
Travel Approx 21 km’s and turn right at Logan [great little country pub on right as you turn] into C273 (Wedderburn). First couple of Km’s are a narrow seal but does widen to normal width.
Approx 24km’s at T intersection in Wedderburn turn left A79 and travel into town, Hotel and Cafe on left in middle of Wedderburn.
Lunch.
After lunch travel back the way in but turn left into C273 (Boort).
Approx 12 km’s cross over railway line at Korong Vale and turn Left.
Travel through the districts of Borung and Mysia the railway line on your left will head away on the left after Mysia.
Arriving at a true T intersection at approx 42Km’s turn left into the C267. (Boort). Travel approx. 3km’s to Boort. As you come into town turn right into C266 (Kerang). If you want to see a small country town in real decline travel into town to the railway line before returning and turning left to Kerang.
Approx 46Km’s at the true T intersection turn left on to the B400 ( Swan Hill). If fuel or toilet stop required turn right, toilets on right as you come into Kerang but you need to go past and do a U turn to get to them. Fuel continue on round right hand sweeper and head to Bendigo fuel on the right Caltex and B.P.
Approx 37 Km’s Travel through Lake Boga turn right to Museum. Adults $15 but well worth it.
Approx 20Km’s on is Swan Hill.
Those staying at the Murray Downs Resort will follow signs as you come into Swan Hill and cross over the Murray. Those staying at the Lazy River Motel will travel through Swan Hill on the Highway and find it right near the big 4 Caravan Park.
