We have organised the Cup Weekend this year in Castlemaine. I have spoken to the Castlemaine Central Cabin Park (101 Barker Street) who has 7 cottages available for that weekend @ $154 per night and 5 cedar cabins @ $124 per night. Phone number is 5472 2160.
Castle Motel (1 Duke Street) has 12 rooms available that weekend– double or twin for $120 per night. A large family unit will cost you $160 per night. Phone number is 5472 2433.
Both the Caravan Park and Motel are happy to hold rooms for us but we need to act quickly in order to not miss out. I will arrange with both venues to hold accommodation for us until Saturday October 7 but you will need to make your own bookings.
Alternatively, you can always make your own choices as to where you stay. Being Cup Weekend, there are a lot of things happening around the state of Victoria in terms of festivals etc. so if you intend to come, you need to book quickly.
Local club member, Doug Burke, has planned some interesting visits and drives for Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday for those who are staying on for the extra day. This will also include a hill climb up Mount Tarrangower.
We intend to dine out in different venues each night so I will need an indication of numbers so that we can make the necessary bookings.
