BASTILLE DAY (14 JULY) IS AN IMPORTANT EVENT IN THE FRENCH CALENDAR AS IT COMMEMORATES THE BEGINNING OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION IN 1789. AS THE OLDEST PEUGEOT CAR CLUB IN THE WORLD, I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PCCV RE-INTRODUCE THIS CELEBRATION INTO OUR YEARLY CALENDAR. THIS YEAR, BASTILLE DAY FALLS ON A THURSDAY, WHICH FOR MANY OF US IS NOT PRACTICAL. I AM THEREFORE PROPOSING THAT WE ORGANISE A LUNCH ON SUNDAY 17 JULY INSTEAD. WE CAN EITHER GO TO A FRENCH RESTAURANT (I HAVE IDENTIFIED THREE THAT ARE VERY REASONABLY PRICED AT AROUND $40 PP PLUS DRINKS), OR WE CAN USE THE CLUBROOMS IN NUNAWADING AND HAVE IT CATERED FOR IN A FRENCH THEME, WHICH MAY BE A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE. BEFORE MAKING ANY HARD AND FAST DECISIONS AND/OR COMMITMENTS, I WOULD APPRECIATE AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FROM MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND, AS WELL AS YOUR PREFERENCE FOR EITHER A RESTAURANT OR A CATERED FUNCTION AT THE CLUBROOMS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF THIS CELEBRATION, PLEASE EMAIL VAL GIBSON ON VSGMJK@BIGPOND.COM OR CALL 03 9728 3096.
