Voyage Petite 21 August

As you will have seen in the latest edition of Torque, we have a Voyage Petite scheduled for Sunday August 21 in Williamstown. The activities include a coffee/breakfast stop, a large community market for the ladies and, for those who are interested, a visit to explore HMAS Castlemaine which is permanently anchored at Gem Pier, before lunch at a local pub. HMAS Castlemaine was built in 1941 and served in WW2. Originally one of sixty Australian- built Bathurst Class corvettes, she is the only one remaining afloat and is now a museum and has been fully restored. Apart from driving to Williamstown – where there is plenty of free parking in the immediate vicinity, there is no other driving required – apart from when you head home. Everything planned is within very easy walking distance of Gem Pier so we can stay warm for the most part and under cover. FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT YET AGAIN, I HAD A CALL THIS EVENING FROM CLUB MEMBER PETER MYRING WHO HAS A YACHT WHICH IS BERTHED AT WILLIAMSTOWN. PETER HAS VERY GENEROUSLY OFFERED TO TAKE THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED FOR A SAIL AROUND HOBSON’S BAY ON HIS YACHT WHICH CAN ACCOMMODATE AROUND 12-15 PEOPLE. OBVIOUSLY THIS WILL DEPEND ON THE WEATHER ON THE DAY AND WE WILL HAVE A BETTER IDEA OF THAT A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFOREHAND.  For coffee/breakfast and lunch bookings I will need an idea of who intends to participate so I can make appropriate arrangements. ALSO, I WILL NEED TO KNOW WHO IS INTERESTED IN GOING FOR A SAIL WITH PETER MYRING ON HIS YACHT, WEATHER DEPENDING. So, if you are interested in attending, you need to let me KNOW ASAP – email vsgmjk@bigpond.com or 9728 3096. Val
