George Woods Rally The George Woods Rally will be run on Saturday 26 February 2022.This year, remembering Neil Beddoe and the years he worked as the Safety Officer for this event, there will be a special award for the first Peugeot competitor in the event. This will be the Neil Beddoe Memorial Award.The event will start and finish in Powelltown. It is a Regularity Rally which means the maximin speed on any competitive section must not exceed 110Km/h. Get involved at the AGM The March club meeting on Friday 4 March will incorporate the club’s annual general meeting, so it is important to attend.The election of the committee will be held as part of the AGM. If you feel you can contribute something to the club, come along and stand for the committee.The Financial Investments Notice of Motion explained on page 7 of February Torque will also be put to the AGM for approval.This involves an important change and deserves the consideration of all members.It’s your club: come along a have your voice heard. |
Time to be counted The Cruise for Cancer on Sunday 6 March is in serious doubt because very few people have offered to take part.One run will start from the north of Melbourne, one from the south-east and one from Geelong.The three runs will raise money for the Cancer Council and we need to know numbers by this Saturday so we can make lunch bookings.These are your choices:The North-east run, guided by Milton Grant (0419 406 056): Gather at the BP Cooper Street (Melway 181, D11) from 9.30 and after a morning coffee before setting out on an entertaining meander. Lunch will be at the White Hart Hotel at Longwood, where the menu includes some real treats.The South-east run, guided by David Jenkins (0421 400 984): Gather at South Beach Project, 464 The Esplanade, Mt Martha (Cnr Kilburn Rd) at 9:30 for a coffee and a 10am off for a scenic tour of Mornington Peninsula highlights and lunch at the very hospitable Pig & Whistle tavern in Main Ridge. Home via nearby Peninsula Link if you’re in a rush to get home.And the Western run, guided by Paul Watson (0427 203 206): Meet at the BP roadhouse on the Geelong Ring Road southbound (Melway 431 X.XX) for coffee at 9.30 and depart at 10 for the Bridges Tour, taking in some great scenery in the Moorabool Shire. Lunch is at the newly renovated Fyansford Hotel, near the Ring Road.We are asking participating members to help cancer research by making a donation of $20 per car to the Cancer Council before the event but this is not compulsory.Please ring one of these contacts ASAP to advise of your participation. |
See you at Sale The Easter long weekend will be based in Sale, a pretty city with attractions such as an art gallery, a nature conservation area and the Port of Sale.We will gather on Good Friday, 15 April, and there are options so people can decide whether to stay for two, three or four nights.Accommodation ranges from classy apartments, motels and pubs to the caravan park. Here are some suggestions. (The prices quoted are for the Easter weekend, so they are higher than normal.)Sale Motor Village (Caravan Park) 2-6 Foster Street Sale. 5144 3366. METEC Khanacross The PCCV Annual Khanacross will be held at the METEC facilities in Kilsyth on Saturday 30 April.This is a Multi-Club event and will follow the successful format used in previous years.Four courses will operate simultaneously with two runs before lunch and two after lunch.Each competitor will have the opportunity to experience 16 runs during the day.As usual a special Class will be included for Juniors.Supplementary Regulations will be available from the PCCV website, www.pccv.org in mid-March.Allan Horsley, Clerk of Course, allan.horsley@bigpond.com |
