We were going have this drive last October but because it clashed with the Phillip Island Grand Prix, we thought it was better to defer it and what better time than sunny February.
As originally planned, we will meet at La Casa Sawtellis (129 South Gippsland Highway, Tooradin) for coffee and /or brunch at 10a.m.This is a popular family restaurant and galleria with excellent coffee, great food and a lovely atmosphere.
When we have finished coffee, we will then wander around the Tooradin Community Market on the Tooradin Foreshore for a spot of retail therapy.
There is a wide variety of goods available – ranging from fresh produce, craft, plants and flowers, unique gifts, a sausage sizzle (if you are still hungry that is), as well as hot and cold drinks. If the market is not your thing, there are various other interesting gift shops to browse.
At 12.30pm we will have lunch at Wings and Fins which is located at the Tooradin Airfield which is the home of the Tooradin Flying School. The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes. Whilst enjoying superb food, you can take in the spectacular views of Westernport Bay and French Island, whilst watching aircraft take off and land.
For those intending to join us on the day, bookings will be ABSOLUTELY essential so please email Val Gibson at vsgmjk@bigpond.com to secure your place by NO LATER than FRIDAY 9 FEBRUARY. This is an extremely popular restaurant and books out quickly. I have made an assumed booking and need to confirm numbers ASAP.
