SEBASTIEN LOEB SMASHES PIKES PEAK RECORD The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak rewrites history in the Rocky Mountains. Nine-time WRC champ Sebastien Loeb cruised to a record time of 8:13.878 in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb ‘Unlimited’ Class. The Frenchman mastered the legendary Colorado course, featuring 156 wrist-sapping bends winding up the 12-mile route towards the 14,000 feet high finish line. Loeb shredded the previous Pikes Peak record of 9:46.164 as he became the first driver to complete the famous course in less than nine minutes. The WRC legend drove his way into the history books behind the wheel of his Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak. The one-ton, 875bhp, four-wheel drive beast was created specifically for this unique challenge. Not only did Loeb battle against the high altitude energy sapping course but also against rival racers hoping to claim the title of King of the Peak for themselves. Among the stiff competition was Rhys Millen who broke his own Pikes Peak record with a time of 9:02.192 in his Hyundai RMR PM580-T.
