MITCH GARRAD TO WEAR GREEN AND GOLD Mitch Garrad has just been announced as a member of the Australian National Under-19 team to represent the country in the U19 Floorball World Championships to be held in Helsingborg, Sweden, from 29 April to 3 May. Most PCCV members know Mitch as he has been attending events and meetings since he was a baby (actually, he participated in a touring assembly in a Peugeot one week before he was born!). Mitch has been driving in motorkhanas in a 205 since he was 12 (he won yesterday’s PAC Multi-Club motorkhana outright) and navigates in rallies and touring assemblies in my 505GTi and in many other members’ cars. As well as motorsport, Mitch has been making a name for himself in another lesser-known sport; floorball is a kind of indoor hockey – more like ice hockey with less contact and runners instead of skates. It is an extremely fast sport and highly tactical, so complements rally navigation well. Having just turned 16, Mitch was up against players up to three years older (and hence physically stronger) to win selection; but through determination, application and sheer enthusiasm, he made the National team. I’m sure that all PCCV members will join me in wishing Mitch the best in these World Championships and future events where he is wearing the Green & Gold.. Floorball is a new sport in Australia, with limited resources, so team members have to pay their own way, with fare to Sweden and accommodation while there. If any PCCV member runs or knows of a business that would like to help Mitch get to Sweden by way of sponsorship, please contact Glad Fish (gladfish at netspace dot net dot au) to offer support. Nick Wright RUSSELL STUCKEY TALKS TYRES AT PCCV ON 6 FEBRUARY I have known Russell for about forty five years through my touring car race management and he was already well versed in ordinary road tyres and then Stuckeys took on the Dunlop Racing tyres; so Russell has a long experience with all types of tyres. He will discuss the ordinary road tyres and the more sporting types of rubber for road or track right up to the full racing tyres if anyone needs this information. Stuckey’s is also able to obtain the older Michelins for the 203, 403 and 404. He will be happy to answer questions on your tyre problems and hopefully help you to a higher level of happiness where you contact the road. Peter Kerr
