Derek Pickard is our guest speaker for April. Derek is a British trained automotive engineer and motoring writer, as well as a current member of PCCV. In his own words, he is a very keen “techno-head”. He has worked as a race engineer, on both 2 and 4 wheels in the UK, USA and Australia. He has had a long-standing interest in advanced and evolving technologies which will obviously have a significant impact on the automotive world as we know it today. Apart from doing extensive research and writing books on 2 stroke engine technology, Derek’s current interests include building track cars and competing in track events. Derek will talk to us about the evolution of electric vehicles and will explain whether they will replace the current hybrids, what type of battery will succeed in the future and the likely costs going forward; as well as how future technology may be retrofitted into a Peugeot classic. He will also discuss the success or failure of alternative power sources such as hydrogen during which should be an enlightening and entertaining evening.
