DESCRIPTION:John Needham of Old Car Gearboxes will be the guest speaker at the club’s virtual meeting on Friday 4 December. \nJohn grew up in Brisbane and at the age of 12 he learned to drive a Chevrolet Blitz truck. That’s where his love of mechanics and cars started.  \nJohn trained as a PMG telephone technician but was pensioned off for health reasons after 20 years and started his business in East Malvern. \nHis first gearbox which was in a Ford 10/10 bread van. Working on many other people’s gearboxes he has become an expert in stripping\, repairing and putting back together the jigsaw puzzles that are old gearboxes. \nHis workshop has a list of the gearboxes awaiting repair\, including Bentley\, Morgan\, Maserati\, E-Type Jag and Lancia Lambda. But he has an affection for Peugeots.  \n“Peugeot people are more sophisticated\,” he says. \nDon’t miss the interview with John on the PCCV Facebook page from 8pm on 4 December.
