SUMMARY:Bastille Day Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Bastille Day Lunch – Sunday July 16 \nIf you haven’t yet indicated if you wish to attend this once a year lunch\, then I encourage you to do so without delay. \nThis year\, we will celebrate at Bistro Chez Nous in Surrey Hills. The address is 122 Union Road. The atmosphere is very French\, warm and inviting and the food reviews are excellent. \nThe restaurant is the dream and creation of long time resident of Surrey Hills\, Robyn Jackson. Robyn’s love affair with France has seen her study at The Ritz\, Paris and for the past 10 years\, she has taken culture-hungry Australians  ”on a cook’s tour of France”\, through the local produce markets\, cooking schools and restaurants of Paris\, Lyon\, Alsace and Brittany. \nI have already made a reservation but will need to confirm this ASAP as Bastille Week is a very busy one for them. The restaurant can comfortably seat 40 people – but you need to get in early! If we have somewhere near this number\, they will reserve the restaurant solely for us. \nThey offer a 3 course lunch for $49.50 and are licensed as well as BYO. \nSo\, to ensure your seat\, please email Val Gibson at vsgmjk@bigpond.com without delay!

SUMMARY:Winter Wander
DESCRIPTION:This event has been organised to help Wye River’s recovery after last year’s bushfires by spending some money there. \nOn the Saturday morning we will gather at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie on the Great Ocean Road at Bellbrae\, near Anglesea for coffee\, cake and chocolate. \nWhen we have had our fill we will head down the Great Ocean Road to Lorne. Here you can visit Erskine Falls and gather at Michael York’s home near the falls for an inspection of his barn full of old Peugeots. \nThen we will drive into Lorne for lunch at the Grand Pacific Hotel\, where they have a good range of burgers\, paninis\, salads\, share plates etc. \nAfter lunch we’ll drive to Wye River and book in to the Big 4 caravan park where we will receive a 15% discount\, so cabins are about $120 a double. \nAfter the traditional 5.04s we will move to the Wye Beach Hotel for dinner. Mains are about $30 but there are lots of other choices. \nOn the Sunday morning we’ll drive to Apollo Bay for coffee and a look around the town. \nThen we will travel via Lavers Hill\, Turtons Track and the Great Otway National Park to Forrest\, with plenty of huge trees\, tree ferns\, etc on the way. \nLunch will be at the Forrest Brewing Company\, a casual place with a great winter menu that is not expensive. \nAfter lunch we head home\, with optional an coffee stop at Birregurra. Melbourne people would be home by about 5pm. \nIf you are interested in doing the Winter Wander please register with Paul Watson\, on 0427 203 206.
