SUMMARY:HAC Interclub Motokhana

SUMMARY:November Yoyage Petit
DESCRIPTION:Voyage Petit to the backblocks of the Mornington Peninsula \nSunday 17 November \nCome and drive the lesser-known roads of the Mornington Peninsula. Many of these roads are gravel but suitable for all Peugeots. I have driven them all in my 406 but don’t forget that if it has been dry it may be a bit dusty and if we have had rainfall in the previous week it may be a little muddy\, so it’s probably best to keep the concours cars in the shed. \nMeeting time – 10am for coffee 10.30 departure. \nMeeting place – Barmah Park Winery Mooroduc Highway Mornington. \nHow to get there – Travel on new Peninsula Link Freeway. Take Exit 18 Mornington/Tyabb. Turn right and drive back over the freeway to Mornington. Travel 3.3km to a roundabout on the Mooroduc Highway. Turn left at roundabout. Travel 800 metres and turn in when you see the red tractor. \nLunch will be in Flinders. After lunch we will drive towards Rosebud\, where you will have the choice of driving home on the freeway or along the beach\, back through Safety Beach and Mornington. \nPlease contact Hank verwoert1@bigpond.com or 9783 2718 if you are going to attend.

SUMMARY:Voyage Petit to the Brisbane Ranges and lunch at Bannockburn
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 26 October  \nI have deliberately kept this run as the final event of my year as events secretary. The Brisbane Ranges offer some great scenery and brilliant Peugeot roads\, so I know it will not disappoint. \nWe will gather from 10am at the McDonald’s just of the Point Cook exit from the Princes Freeway (Exit 14). \nAt 10.30am we will set off towards Geelong\, taking the Little River exit and heading towards Little River in convoy. From there we will drive around the You Yangs\, past the Ford proving ground and on to Anakie. There we turn towards the exciting surrounds of Steiglitz and on to Sheoaks\, Maude and Bannockburn\, where we will have lunch at the pub from about 12.30pm. \nYou can meet us along the way or at Bannockburn\, but I must have numbers for lunch at least a week before the event. Please don’t just turn up on the day and expect to be included for lunch. \nFinally\, a note on driving in convoy: your duty is to keep the car behind you in sight. We all want to get to the destination without getting lost or being forgotten. So please don’t tailgate the car in front and forget the person behind you. \nPaul Watson 0427 203 206

SUMMARY:French Car Festival
DESCRIPTION:This venue for this year’s French Car Festival is Seaworks Maritime Precinct at 82 Nelson Place\, Williamstown\, from 9.30am to 3pm. Enter via Ann Street. Entry is $10 per car\, with passengers. Pedestrians will pay a gold coin donation. \nAs there are no plans to have separate areas for different makes\, it would be great to arrive in a group. So from 9am we will form a convoy at Donald McLean Reserve\, The Avenue\, Spotswood (Melway 41\, K12)\, leaving at 9.15am. This reserve is just off the West Gate Freeway. \nThe French Car Festival venue offers raffles\, live music\, cooking demonstrations\, wine tasting food and drink stalls\, an on-site tavern\, merchandise tents\, seaplane flights and a great outlook. \nMajor prizes will be presented by the honorary consul-general for France\, Mrs Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie and Fletch from Classic Restos will be there to document the event. \nThere will be special awards for “barn find” and “restoration in progress”. \nThe event will also be the PCCV concours\, so make sure your Pug is looking its best. \nFor those whose vehicles are so precious that they need to be under cover\, there will be parking sport than can be reserved. And the cars can be left there on the afternoon of the day before the big event\, by arrangement with the organisers. \nThis year’s French Car Festival is organised by the Renault Car Club of Victoria. \nFor a map of the location go to www.frenchcarfestival2013.net and click on Meeting Place.

SUMMARY:PCCV Slippery Dip
DESCRIPTION:The club’s annual Slippery Dip will once again be run on the picturesque slopes at Jeff and Sue Gill’s property at Millgrove. \nA Slippery Dip is an untimed event where the aim is to drive your car (generally up hill) through as many of the 10 gates on each test – the more gates you pass the higher your score. Around 10 separate tests will be held on the day. \nAll you need to compete is a CAMS 2NS licence. This is a great low-key event that will test a driver’s skill rather than how fast they can complete the course. Competition to start by 10am. \nWhere: 265 Dee Road\, Millgrove – (It’s at the very end of Dee Rd)

SUMMARY:Euroa Show and Shine
DESCRIPTION:The Euroa event will be held among the gums beside Seven Creeks Park in the centre of Euroa. \nThe show\, which is sponsored by the RACV this year\, starts at 8am and entry is via Clifton Street. \nThere will be classic\, vintage and veteran vehicles to drool over\, live bands\, trade stalls\, food stalls and\, for the kids\, a jumping castle and face painting. \nThere are 90 trophies covering all classes of cars and bikes. The club has a history of winning trophies at Euroa\, and this year should be no different. \nWe are planning to resume our traditional position beside the bridge\, where plenty of passers-by see our display. Look for the Peugeot flags. \nEuroa is only 90 minutes’ drive from Cooper Street\, so polish up the Pug and join us for a great day. We would love to see lots of people from regional Victoria at the event. \nShow vehicles are $5 and visitors $2\, so it’s not expensive. \nFor more information see www.australiannationalshowandshine.com.au

SUMMARY:October Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The PCCV monthly club meeting is held at the VDC Clubrooms\, Unit 8\, 41-49 Norcal Road\, Nunawading (Melway 48 G10)\, commencing at 8pm. Visitors are most welcome. \n\nThe guest speaker at this month’s general meeting is Shaun Ablitt of CruiseAbout\, the experts in luxury cruising. The company has cruises to all sorts of places\, including the Top End\, New Zealand and the South Pacific. Cruises offered range from eight to 21 days. Some would say this subject is “off-topic” for a car club\, but we all need a break now and then. \nNo auction this year \nBecause of a serious lack of interest on the part of buyers and sellers\, the committee has decided not to hold the club auction this year. The auction may be reinstated in the club calendar sometime later\, if there is sufficient interest.

SUMMARY:PCCV Ivan’s Folly Trial
DESCRIPTION:Ivan’s Folly on 14th September is the next PCCV competition event on our calendar. Lets stack the field with Peugeots this year. It is a very compact event with lots of great forest roads to compete on and minimal transports. \nThis year the Ivan’s Folly is being directed by Mark Laidlay. Mark will be looking for a few officials on the night so keep the date free and volunteer to help. Graham Wallis will tell you more about the event at the August meeting. We can expect it to be a night event in the Heathcote area. Finishing with the traditional PCCV bonfire and Lael’s sausage sizzle. \n2013 Ivan’s Folly_Supplementary Regulations

SUMMARY:Special General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A Special General Meeting will be held at 8pm on Friday 6 September 2013\, prior to the Monthly Club Meeting\, to enable Club Members to consider and then adopt a new set of “Rules” which will govern the way the Club operates and conducts its business. \nThis task has been brought about by Consumer Affairs Victoria\, the body which oversees ‘’Not for Profit’’ organisations\, requiring such organisations  to adopt new “Rules” generally in accordance with new “Model Rules” published by them. \nThe Club Committee has carefully reviewed the new Model Rules and enhanced them with material from the current Club Rules which were adopted in April 2006 so they reflect the way we currently operate. \nThe proposed new “Rules” are available here. \nThe process is largely procedural however members will be given the opportunity to consider the proposed new Rules at this meeting. \nAllan Horsley \n

SUMMARY:PCCV VMC Motorkhana\, Sandown
DESCRIPTION:Put this date in your calendar. Once a year PCCV run a round of the Victorian Motorkhana Championship. Last year we ran our event in the car park at the Cardinia Shire Offices. It was a great event but quite a challenge to fit on such a restricted area. \nThis year our VMC motorkhana will be held at Sandown raceway. We will need some volunteers to do simple chores like using back-up stop watches in case the electronic timing fails. We would also like to have lots of Peugeots competing in our round of the series.

SUMMARY:Como Gardens visit
DESCRIPTION:This is a chance to visit a beautiful garden property and see the magnificent car collection of George Hetrel.\nFor us the highlight will be George’s 1903 Peugeot\, but other attractions are an 1896 Benz with tiller steering\, a Talbot Lago racing car\, a Bugatti and the fabulous Mercedes 540SSK\, among many others. The ephemera in George’s “shed” is brilliant\, ranging from oil company signs to a large-scale model aircraft.\nGeorge has promised to have his miniature railway in operation\, so bring the kids and grandkids along.\nAmong many other shrubs and trees\, the garden contains two collections (prunus and magnolia) of plants registered with the Garden Plant Conservation Association of Australia.\nComo Gardens is at 79 Basin-Olinda Road\, The Basin (Melway 65\, H7) and the gates will be open at 10am. Please park in the car park on the Melbourne side.\nEntry is by gold coin donation\, which will benefit the St John Ambulance and the SES.\nFor more info on Como Gardens\, see www.comogardens.com.au

SUMMARY:60th Anniversary Redex Rerun
DESCRIPTION:The 60th Anniversary Redex Rerun starts from Maitland on Tuesday 14 May. The Rerun is celebrating the Peugeot 203 victory in the original 1953 event with the Rerun field comprising mostly Peugeot 203s and 403s. \nThe spectacular win by Ken Tubman and John Marshall’s 203 in the 1953 Redex Trial put Peugeot on the motoring map in Australia and established the marque’s excellent reputation in this country. \nOn Monday 13th May there will be a vehicle display at Maitland Park. The Rerun starts from Maitland Airport the following morning from 7.30\, passing through Inverell\, Dalby\, Bundaberg\, Emerald\, then Longreach\, Winton\, Mt Isa and Tennant Creek. The route then heads north to Darwin for one of the five rest days planned\, and then heads south to Alice Springs and then takes a detour to Yulara on the way to Coober Pedy. From here to Port Augusta\, then across South Australia and Victoria to Shepparton and Albury\, then Canberra\, finishing at Parramatta. All up the rerun covers 10\,000km over a period of 4 weeks. \nA highlight for the last day will be the famous “horror section” near Goulburn\, which was a deciding moment in the 1953 event. \nFor more information about the Rerun\, contact the event organiser\, Graham Wallis\, phone 0429 939 619 or email ewal7731@bigpond.net.au.

SUMMARY:Voyage Petite Bunyip State Park
DESCRIPTION:We will meet at the 24-hour service centre on the Princes Freeway about 27km past Pakenham at 10am for coffee etc and a 10.30 departure. To get into the service centre from the freeway take the right-hand turnoff to Longwarry. After about 100 metres\, turn left and this will take you into the café section at the back of the service centre.\nThe trip will be north of the freeway\, mainly in the Bunyip State Park. Roads are mostly well formed gravel roads with a couple of interesting short sections. It is more suited to rear wheel drive cars. FWD cars will probably scrape in a few places. 205s would be OK but I would not take in a 407.\nLunch will be at a café in Gembrook. Please let me know by 30 April if you would like to take part as I have to book for lunch. There will be a short run after lunch or you can proceed home from Gembrook.\nHank Verwoert – verwoert@netspace.net.au – Ph 9783 2718

SUMMARY:Voyage Petite to Geelong
DESCRIPTION:And now for something completely different. Club member Salman Chaudhry has discovered a hidden gem just outside Geelong. \nIt’s called the Geelong Cement Museum\, which sounds pretty mundane\, but the 1835 building is one of Victoria’s earliest mansions and saw the evolution of the Industrial Revolution. It was built as a Protestant orphanage. But a limestone quarry opened up next door and by 1939 the building was bought by Geelong Cement\, becoming the management office until 2001. \nThe quarry and cement works have now closed and the old orphanage has been turned into a museum\, with a sporting club for former employees next door. \nThe bluestone mansion has 27 rooms housing a collection of 10\,000 items\, including fossils from the quarry as well as mechanical and carpentry tools. \nThe museum is in McCurdy Street\,\, Melway 451\, C2. From Melbourne\, take the Geelong bypass and take the Newtown-Hamilton  turnoff and turn left onto the Hamilton Highway\, cross the Moorabool River then veer left at Hyland Street and turn right at the top of the hill into McCurdy Street. We will meet there at 2pm and entry is by a gold coin donation. \n* If you want to make a day of it\, we have booked a table at the Fyansford Hotel at noon. (The hotel is next to the Moorabool River bridge.)  Entrees are about $15 and mains range from $25 to $30. This part of the event is entirely optional and places are limited\, so you must call Paul Watson on 0427 203 206 before 13 March if you wish to join us for lunch.

SUMMARY:March Club Night
DESCRIPTION:A meeting with a difference \nThere will be a BYO barbecue before the March meeting\, but you might prefer to pick up a take-away because we will be hearing from our guest speaker even before the meeting begins. \nDick O’Keefe\, who recently retired from Performance Ignition\, is making a return visit for an exposition on all things to do with ignition\, starting at 7pm. Yes\, 7pm. \nTo be able to demonstrate the equipment properly\, Dick’s talk will be given at the Performance Ignition workshop\, at Unit 47 in the same business park as Chateau Peugeot. That’s just a short walk for us. \nDick will demonstrate the regraphing of ignition systems by computer\, as well as dealing with coils\, distributors\, leads and other electronic parts. \nIf we can drag ourselves away\, the monthly meeting will start at Chateau Peugeot at 8pm. \nAfter the business has been dealt with\, we will show a short film with items of interest to Peugeot enthusiasts. \nThere will be a cuppa with finger food after the meeting\, giving you time for a chat with friends.
