DESCRIPTION:Once again I will try and find roads less travelled as we meander to Shepparton on a great Saturday drive\, as preparation for DECA on Sunday. Meeting place will be at the Hunters Tryst at Beveridge with coffee etc available from 9.30. We will set off around 10am. \nFrom Melbourne travel out the Hume highway (M31) take the Beveridge exit to the left turn right and go under the highway then turn left into the old Hume Highway and the Hunters Tryst is on the left a couple of hundred metres up the road. \nThe end of the day’s meander will see us only an hour and a half from Melbourne for those who need to return\, while the rest of us will travel to Shepparton where we will meet at the Terminus Hotel for dinner. \nMilton Grant 0419 406 056

DESCRIPTION:The June meeting will be held  on Friday 5 June. While this is the Friday night of the Long Weekend members have shown a preference for this night rather than a week’s delay. \nMembers are invited to bring along their 405 Peugeots and be part of the display. \nThe guest speaker (and demonstrator) will be club member Malcolm Muir\, who is a professional car detailer. He will bring his car into the building and show us how to clean our cars (and keep them clean). \nMalcolm has a lovely 405 Mi16\, which has won prizes at various car shows\, including at the French Car Festival and Yass Pageant. If the rest of us can learn how to present cars as well as Malcolm does\, we will have a fleet to admire.

SUMMARY:2015 Peugeot Pageant
DESCRIPTION:The Peugeot Association of Canberra is hosting this annual gathering of Peugeot enthusiasts from around Australia in 2015. \nThe Pageant will be held in Yass\, NSW\, from Friday 17 to Monday 20 April 2015\, two weekends AFTER Easter. \nThe historic town of Yass\, some 50 km north of Canberra\, just off the Hume Highway\, offers a range of accommodation options and potentially interesting activities for participants. A highlight of the weekend will be a visit to the Binalong Car Museum\, which houses a small but eclectic collection of cars including Bugatti and Delarge. \nThe weekend program will broadly follow the successful format of previous pageants: \nFRIDAY: Registration at Swaggers Motor Inn\, from 2 pm onwards\, including car grooming in preparation for the concours. Pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard\, followed by dinner in town. \nSATURDAY: The day will kick off with a concours d’elegance in Banjo Paterson Park\, Yass (subject to council approval). We hope that the Yass mayor will accept our invitation to present the prizes. After a picnic lunch in the park\, we will head to Jeir Creek Winery\, near Murrumbateman\, for driving skills/motorkhana activities. Non-driving pageanteers will be able to tour the vineyard and taste the wines. Winery owner\, Rob Howell\, is also a motoring enthusiast and owns a lovely Citroen Light 15 (Traction Avant) as well as an MG TF and an MGA. The day will finish with dinner at the Yass Golf Club. \nSUNDAY: In the morning there will be an observation run to Binalong\, with lunch in Binalong. In the afternoon we will visit the Binalong car museum and Peter Minson Art Glass. In the evening\, a presentation dinner\, featuring local wines\, will be held at the Swaggers Motor Inn. \nMONDAY: Farewell breakfast at Swaggers Motor Inn. \nWe will be using the Swaggers Motor Inn as our home base in Yass\, but there are other nearby motels and a caravan park just a few hundred metres away. All 30 rooms at the Swaggers have been reserved for the Pageant for 3 nights (Fri\, Sat\, Sun)\, at a daily rate of $120/room including cooked breakfast and free internet. The heavily discounted room rate is an excellent deal\, because some rooms can accommodate up to 6 people! SUMMARY:George Woods  Novice Rally
DESCRIPTION:This event is named in memory of a PCCV member\, George Woods\, who competed for years in many different motorsport events in his 403. A regular event on the Victorian Rally Calendar\, it has been running for over 30 years. \nThis year’s event is again aimed at encouraging new competitors into the sport of rallying by providing a lot more explanatory information than many other events. What’s more\, CAMS VRAP has offered to significantly subsidise the entry fee for genuine first time rally drivers. \nThe event will also be used by the HRA as a round of its championship. However\, novice competitors will still be treated as the most important\, being balloted first; then a 15-20 minute break will be maintained before the first of the graded crews. \nThe George Woods Novice Rally will use a variety of route instruction types\, including route charts\, grid references (with compass entry/exit directions) and stick charts. SUMMARY:Yarra Valley Voyage Petite
DESCRIPTION:This Voyage Petite is to celebrate the amazing recovery of Marysville after the devastation of Black Saturday in 2009. Six years on\, it is wonderful to see how this tiny community has come back to life with such determination and plans for the future. \nWe will meet at the Healesville Historic Railway Station @ 9am for morning tea and a tour of the railway for starters.  At around 10.30am\, we will head to Marysville where there is a Community Market with all sorts of goodies including fresh produce\, locally produced food\, wines\, fragrances and various other items. If the market is not your thing\, “Made in Marysville & Surrounds” is a cafe\, gallery and provedore showcasing all things local including jewellery\, pottery\, jams\, relishes and chutneys etc. \nFor lunch\, we will meet at Gallipoli Park\, which has undergone a $1.8m redevelopment after Black Saturday. \nThe Reflective Garden provides a main entry into Gallipoli Park and features a gazebo and ‘garden rooms’\, and the New Life Sculpture\, designed and produced by local artist Bruno Torfs\, as a permanent symbol of new life in the community. \nThe park is well equipped for those taking a picnic lunch and there are BBQ’s readily available. There are also ample parking and toilet facilities on site. \nIf self catering is not your preferred option\, you have the choice of the Marysville Bakery\, Cafe Fragas (in Main Street)\, the Vibe Hotel or the Bunker Restaurant @ Marysville Golf Club. If anyone is interested in having lunch at the Golf Club\, call Val Gibson on 9728 3096 or email vsgmjk@bigpond.com to make a booking. \nAfter lunch\, we can continue on to Steavenson ‘s Falls which is one of Victoria’s highest waterfalls at 120 metres. There are 5 cascades with a number of good lookout points and photo opportunities. \nFor those looking to make tracks for home\, you have the option of the picturesque Acheron Way (with some dirt road) through to Warburton\, or back via the Maroondah Highway where the Gerbera and Alpaca Farm is definitely worth a visit. If you feel so inclined\, there are a number of great wineries on the way. Dominique Portet (where we celebrated PCCV’s 60th Anniversary last year)\, in addition to some beautiful French wines\, also have an interesting selection of local wares and products.

DESCRIPTION:Once again the club is supporting the Torquay Motor Show\, which is held on the foreshore at the end of Zeally Bay Road. There are plenty of eateries just across the street or you can buy food and drinks from the Rotary van inside the grounds. \nIt’s a great family day\, with a friendly atmosphere\, and the Rotary Club of Torquay uses the proceeds to support local charities. \nWe always try to arrive in a group so we can park together\, so please be outside Mike Jolley’s house\, 52 Fischer Street\, by 9.15am. We will then drive to the display area in convoy. SUMMARY:Ballarat weekend
DESCRIPTION:The first event of the new year is the annual Ballarat weekend on 31 January and 1 February (which is before the February club meeting). It will involve a real Peugeot experience\, starting with lunch at the Vaggs’ compound\, then a pleasant scenic drive\, a relaxed and inexpensive dinner\, and on the Sunday\, the annual Napoleons motorkhana (fire bans permitting). \nGetting to Ballarat from Melbourne is easy; just follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland highway\, A300)\, turning right towards Creswick and drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left. This is the Vaggs’ property\, at 747 Midland Highway. \nOn the Saturday morning we will visit Glenn Vagg’s Peugeot history shed from 11am. If you haven’t seen Glenn’s shed before\, you really should. As well as some brilliant cars\, he has all sorts of Peugeot models\, literature and promotional material. \nBYO food and drink for lunch. There will be a barbecue available if you wish to use it\, and some great prizes in a free raffle. Lunch will be followed by a pleasant afternoon drive in the environs of Ballarat\, planned by Glenn and Paula\, who will find us some hidden gems as well as a great coffee stop. \nOur casual dinner will be at 6.30pm at the Sebastopol Bowling Club\, which is on the left of the Midland Highway near the Begonia City Motor Inn\, where some people will be staying on Saturday night. There are several rooms on hold at the Begonia City but they won’t last for long. A queen room is $125 a night. You can use your own car or borrow one on the day. \nThe entry fee for the motorkhana will be $20 ($10 for juniors) and you will need a suitable CAMS licence. Juniors are welcome. The entry fee will be waived for people who buy a licence on the day. A come-and-try licence will cost you $25\, the cost of which is deductible if you then buy a full CAMS licence. \nA non-speed licence (suitable for motorkhana\, khanacross and slippery dips etc) costs $60 or $15 for juniors. DESCRIPTION:Beeac is in the Western District\, an easy 150km drive from Melbourne. \nIt is a pretty and tidy town with an interesting windmill display\, but you might be wondering why we should drive there for Sunday lunch. \nWell\, the publican\, Ean McDowell\, serves a very good lunch for a very fair price. He also owns a lolly-icecream shop a few doors away. \nAnd around the corner he has an enormous barn filled with interesting cars\, including a Ferrari\, a Formula Junior racing cars\, a Riley\, several Fiats and an ASA\, which is a beautiful coupe by PininFarina that is to all intents and purposes a scaled-down Ferrari. \nWe will gather at the servo on the Geelong Ring Road and then take the Hamilton Highway and turn south to Beeac\, arriving about noon. \nWorm-drive cars are preferred for this run but all Peugeots are welcome.

SUMMARY:PCCV Slippery Dip
DESCRIPTION:Every year we run a slippery dip at Jeff Gill’s property in the Yarra Valley. Drivers try to negotiate a course\, usually quite slippery\, up an increasingly steep slope\, through 10 gates. Some make it to the top\, some don’t. \nThis year is different. A motorkhana will also be run alongside the slippery dip. But the motorkhana will not be your usual tests\, run on flat grass surfaces. There are slopes\, tracks and uneven surfaces to test your manoeuvring skills\, plus a stop watch to see how quickly you drivers loose time. \nTo encourage newcomers this will be a ‘Come & Try’ event running alongside the slippery dip. Entry fees are to be confirmed\, but all you need to do is turn up in a car that might get quite dirty and has some tread on the tyres. \nPlease bring some food for lunch. A BBQ will be available\, plus there is a very good bakehouse with excellent coffee in Millgrove\, only a few minutes down the road from the venue. Jeff has even installed a proper toilet up the mountain. I’m looking forward to trying to drive up the track from the loo as Jeff says it is impossible to climb in any car. \nI’ll publish the event entry forms next month and provide some at the club meeting\, or you can simply turn up to the Gill property by 10am\, one hour’s drive from Melbourne. SUMMARY:Ray Hoey weekend at Dunkeld
DESCRIPTION:Make sure you don’t miss a great club event on the Melbourne Cup weekend in November. It is the Ray Hoey weekend\, which in the past has been held in Gippsland\, where Ray lived and worked\, but this year it is at Dunkeld in the beautiful Grampians. \nClub stalwarts Les and Lenie Jennings are organising the event. \nA convoy will leave Melbourne on the Saturday morning for the run to Ararat for lunch and a look around. \nAfter lunch we’ll head for Dunkeld\, possibly calling in at lookouts and a winery or two on the way. \nDinner will be at the 109 Restaurant and the Jennings have organised to have the whole restaurant. The cost for a two-course country-style meal (with plenty of food options) is $30 plus drinks. \nThe Royal Mail Hotel is across the road if anyone would like to go there. \nOn the Sunday there are lots of things to see in the Grampians area\, including volcanic sites and a motoring museum. \nLes is happy to show us over his farm\, where Peugeot people have had fun in the past\, such as on the Ampol Rerun. \nThe Old Dunkeld Bakery is organised for Sunday night for a French dinner (cooked by French chefs).  It is a main\, a sweet and a hot drink for $37 per person. We require confirmation of numbers by 10 October as this is a special request for the Bakery to open on the Sunday night for the Peugeot club. The Bakery is normally closed on Sundays. \nOn your way home on the Monday you can visit two historic mansions\, Narrapuumelap near Lake Bolac and Mooramong near Skipton. \nFor anyone staying on Monday night Lenie and Les have plenty of options for you or will be able to assist if there are any requests about the local area. \nAccommodation is filling up quickly so please make your arrangements as soon as possible. There are still B&Bs available in and near Dunkeld. Please contact the Jennings if you require help and Hamilton is 33km away with a large range of motels. \nThe Jennings would appreciate people letting them know what arrangements are made and who is coming so the activities can be arranged. DESCRIPTION:  \nAll members are invited to The RACV supported French Car Festival which is on again at Buchanan Oval in the Macleay Park complex. Bring your all your French car. MacLeay Park\, Buchanan Ave\, Balwyn (Melways 46 C4) \nCars will gather on the oval at 10:00 and judging will be complete at 13:00 with the awards being presented at 14:30. \nEntry for cars will be $5. Collectors will pay only for a maximum of two cars if all cars are presented together and a collector’s corner will be available. \nWe expect about 200 cars so there will be plenty to see and discuss. Best of Marque awards will be made for Peugeot\, Renault\, Citroen\, a new award for the Best Sport Renault and the best collector from collectors corner. SUMMARY:CAMS Loud Shirt Day & Motorkhana
DESCRIPTION:The PAC is running a Loud Shirt Come & Try day and a Motorkhana to support deaf kids. Supplementary Regulations are attached below for the 2 days. We are hoping for a bumper crowd as we will be donating part of each entry fee to the deaf kids. And there will be a prize for the loudest shirt too. \nThis event is designed to give participants a basic understanding of motorsport and the opportunity to drive some typical motorkhana tests under the guidance of experienced competitors. \nAimed primarily at juniors (at least 12 and less than 18 years of age) but adults who have not participated in motorsport may be accepted\, space permitting. Juniors can use the PAC Junior Motorsport Club Cars\, manual or automatic. Adults will need to use their own car. All cars will be checked for safety by club scrutineers before being allowed to participate. \nJuniors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who remains at the venue throughout the day and are encouraged to attend the Participant Briefing as this will give them a good insight into what to expect if the child proceeds further into motorsport. \nWe will start with a classroom session that provides some fundamental motorsport safety information and describes the various types of motorsport. \nNext will be practical session. Participants will be split into small groups\, each assigned a Group Leader and an Instructor/Demonstrator. \nThis is a come-and-try fun day. There will be no timing\, scoring or awards. The day will be very casual\, but will follow proper motorsport procedure. \nFor Supplementary Regulations and the appendix for the Come & Try\, go to\nwww.pakenhamautoclub.org.au \nBook-in: from 12:00. We have time to visit the Wild About Fruit orchard store en route\, where some of the best local fruit and vegetables and gourmet products can be found. Or you may like to take 15 minutes to experience the hedonistic new Chocolateri at Yarra Glen\, where behind the scenes making\, decorating and packaging can be observed from the fabulous shop while you sample the freebies. For those more interested in girly shoes\, bags and bling stop in Yarra Glen and find Hobnob (between The Grand Hotel and the Commonwealth Bank). \nWe will meet from 10am at Warran Glen Nurseries corner Ringwood – Warrandyte Road and Jumping Creek Road Warrandyte (Melway 35 J1). Their coffee shop is across the little footbridge behind the very attractive gift shop. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Worm Weekend will take place at Benalla\, just a short drive up the Hume freeway\, from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st of September. Bookings are now open. Even if you don’t have a worm drive come and be part of a great weekend. Be it for only one of the days\, we would love to see you. \nAccommodation has been reserved at Glider City Motel Ph 03 5762 3399 and the Benalla Leisure Park 03 5762 3434\, email stay@benallaleisurepark.com.au which has cabins powered sites etc. When booking at either place please state you are from the Peugeot Car Club. \nFor those arriving Friday there will be the usual 504s and then a choice of resturants\,hotels etc for dinner. \nSaturday morning there will be plenty of time to have a look at the local shops\, the Botanical and Rose Gardens before a short drive to Violet Town where we will meet any folk coming from Melbourne. There is petrol available Unleaded and Premium\, PLUS LPG is available not as written in previous articles. There is also a coffee shop and toilets. \nWe will be leaving Violet Town at approx 11.30\, heading north to a rural hotel and a light lunch. \nFollowing lunch we drive into Kelly Country through several small country towns and some great Peugeot roads. 504s of course and then dinner at the Benalla Bowls club. \nSunday at 10.00 am we will be at the Benalla Aerodrome to use the historic 1942 built Bellman hanger for a worm drive photo shoot with several historic aircraft from the Benalla Aviation Museum. Then we will head off to the Strathbogie ranges for lunch. The afternoon drive will bring us to the Shepparton Auto Museum where there is not only a new display of cars but the Musuem is now the home of the Furphy Foundry Museum plus a new cafe and antiques store. This is an easy drive to Melbourne for those who have to leave and just a short hop back to Benalla for those who can stay an extra day. DESCRIPTION:Our speaker this month will be fellow club member Ian Benier who will talk about caravanning. \nThe talk will discuss the Pros and Cons of caravanning\, in particular for  those that have not previously had the experience. \nIt will cover the legal requirements of both the tow vehicle and the van. \nThe optional extras that many might like their “Outfit” to have\, places that are well worth a visit\, the many costs that could or will be had when owning a van and what are the alternate options for travelling across Australia. \nThe evening will commence at 7.00 pm with a pre meeting BYO dinner. Meals can be cooked or heated on the stove or in the microwave. The meeting itself will start at 8.00 pm. \nSupper along with tea and coffee will be served after the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:The Marong Picnic is to be held on Sunday 31st August at The Marong football grounds known as Malone Park.These grounds can be accessed from both The Calder alternative (A790) or the Calder heading west from Bendigo towards Charlton (A79).The Day is run by The Federation of Veteran Vintage and Classis Clubs and this will be the 22nd event at this location.It’s a day where people from the movement come together with a common interest and a day not advertised to the public. Entry for cars over 25 years old will free of charge and others will be asked to make a small donation to Rotary.Park your car\, have a wander and a snag at the Rotary BBQ.
