SUMMARY:July Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:After the success of the Peugeot trivia quiz last year\, the club is holding another trivia night at the July meeting.\nThe subject is road safety and the person posing the questions will be Paul Watson\, who says he should know the road rules\, as he’s broken most of them at one time or another in his 50 years of driving.\nBut these days Paul is a mentor with the L2P program in Geelong and is very careful to obey the speed limit and traffic signs.\nSo come along and test your knowledge of the road rules. You might win a prize or at least learn something about road safety.\nWhere:  VDC Clubrooms\, Unit 8\, 41-49 Norcal Road\, Nunawading (Melway 48 G10).\nWhen:   BBQ from 6.30pm. Meeting commences at 8.00pm. Visitors are most welcome.

SUMMARY:Peugeot Pageant 2016
DESCRIPTION:The next Peugeot Pageant\, which the Peugeot Car Club of NSW is hosting\, will be held in NSW at Oberon from Friday 8 April to Monday 11 April 2016. This is two weeks after Easter. \nOberon is a cool climate country town of around 2700 people\, about 2½ hours west of Sydney\, and is 40 minutes SE of Bathurst and 40 minutes SW of Lithgow. There is plenty of spectacular scenery in the area and on offer for our navigation run. \nThis form is to advise you of the venue\, and to enable you to plan ahead to include the next Pageant in your 2016 itinerary. We have two motels fully booked and for those who envisage going to the Pageant\, we encourage you to both book your own accommodation and definitely advise us\, for catering purposes\, of your intention of participating. There is no commitment by returning your Expression of Interest form to actually attend\, but we ask that you let us know if you are thinking of attending. This year due to the size of some of the eating and accommodation venues\, we may have to limit numbers to 80 so you will definitely be registered in order of receipt of the Pageant fee and having a motel booking. \nThe format will be similar to most other Pageants commencing with dinner on Friday\, then concours on Saturday morning\, motorkhana and hopefully driving skills events on Saturday afternoon\, and observation run on Sunday morning which will end up for lunch at the largest privately owned garden in the southern hemisphere. This will be followed by an afternoon of free time where you will be able to inspect the 10 acre garden and water garden\, or see some of the many other interesting museums (military\, district and heritage railway)\, a private tractor collection\, etc in or around town. The presentation dinner will be on Sunday night and will conclude with breakfast on Monday morning. All meals will be included from Friday dinner to Monday breakfast (inclusive). For those who are fortunate enough to have Monday off\, we have arranged an inspection of the large Borgs MDF panel factory at Oberon after breakfast which will only be available for a very limited number and will take 1½ to 2 hours. \nTo date we have received 35 expressions of interest and we’d love to hear from you as well. \nGo to http://www.peugeotclub.asn.au/pageant/2016pageant.pdf for your Expression of Interest form.

SUMMARY:Torquay Motor Show
DESCRIPTION:Once again the club is supporting the Torquay Motor Show\, which is held on the foreshore at the end of Zeally Bay Road. There are plenty of eateries just across the street or you can buy food and drinks from the Rotary van inside the grounds. \nIt’s a great family day\, with a friendly atmosphere\, and the Rotary Club of Torquay uses the proceeds to support local charities. \nWe always try to arrive in a group so we can park together\, so please gather at the car park of the Surf Coast Shire Council building\, just as you hit the 80kmh speed limit\, by 9.15am. We will then drive to the display area in convoy. Admission is $15 per car\, no matter how many people are inside. \nThere are plenty of trophies given out\, some of which have been won by PCCV members in past years. \nIf you plan to come\, please notify Paul Watson on 0427 203 206 by 1 February.

SUMMARY:Ballarat weekend
DESCRIPTION:The first event of the new year is the annual Ballarat weekend on 30-31 January (which is obviously before the February club meeting). It will involve a real Peugeot experience\, starting with a BYO barbecue lunch at the Vaggs’ compound\, an inspection of the newly extended Peugeot History shed then a pleasant scenic drive\, a relaxed and inexpensive dinner\, and on the Sunday\, a motorkhana at the CITS property at Mount Rowan. \nGetting to Ballarat from Melbourne is easy; just follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland highway\, A300)\, turning right towards Creswick and drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left. This is the Vaggs’ property\, at 747 Midland Highway. \nOn the Saturday morning we will visit Glenn Vagg’s shed from 11am. It now includes the 172 and the ex-John Marriott black 403 and 604 as well as all sorts of Peugeot models\, literature and promotional material. \nBYO food and drink for lunch. There will be a barbecue available if you wish to use it\, and some great prizes in a free raffle. Lunch will be followed by a pleasant afternoon drive in the environs of Ballarat\, planned by Glenn and Paula\, who always find us a great coffee stop. \nOur casual dinner will be at 6.30pm at the Ballarat Golf Club bistro\, at 1800 Sturt Street. Most of us will be staying at the nearby Belltower Inn on Saturday night. There are several rooms on hold at the Belltower ($120 a double) but they won’t last for long. Call 03 5334 1600 and say you are from PCCV when making your booking to get the special price. \nIf you are planning to come to the dinner\, please notify Paula by Wednesday 27 January or earlier if possible\, either on 0407 271 972 or email\npaula.glenn@bigpond.com. \nOn the Sunday you can spend the morning poking around Ballarat’s fantastic shops or visiting the art gallery or even the Eureka Stockade\, Alternatively\, we can have a leisurely coffee beside Lake Wendouree. \nThe motorkhana at CITS\, 19 Old Midland Hwy\, Mount Rowan\, will start at noon to give Melbourne people plenty of time to get there. Entries will be taken from 11am. \nYou can BYO lunch or send out for yummy roast chicken. We will need to pre order the lunches on Sunday\, so please let Paula know on Saturday; she will have details on price\, or on the contacts above. \nAlongside the motorkhana tests\, there will be a come-and-try event for first-timers and people who have not participated in motor sport for some time. You can use your own car or borrow one on the day. \nThe entry fee for the motorkhana will be $20 ($10 for juniors) and you will need a suitable CAMS licence. Juniors are welcome. The entry fee will be waived for people who buy a licence on the day. A come-and-try licence will cost you $25\, the cost of which is deductible if you then buy a full CAMS licence soon after. \nA non-speed licence (suitable for motorkhana\, khanacross and slippery dips etc.) costs $77 or $25 for juniors. It’s always a great weekend\, so come along and have some fun. With a full licence you can then compete in all our other events we participate in. \nYou can come to either the Saturday or Sunday event\, you don’t have to take part in both. \nIt’s always a great weekend\, so come along and have some fun.

SUMMARY:Cup Weekend in South Gippsland
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the 2014 Cup Weekend at Dunkeld this year’s weekend away has been planned around the conveniently located rural town of Foster in South Gippsland where dramatic seascapes and beautiful landscapes abound. \nAccommodation has been reserved for three nights at the Comfort Inn Foster. The Motel will provide a cooked breakfast each morning and dinner on Saturday night at a cost of $130 per couple for accommodation and $25 per person for dinner. \nSunday brings a surprise with the Foster Farmers and Craft Market open all morning\, offering a host of rural goodies and handcrafts. As well or as an alternative members will be able to drive to Port Welshpool and Yarram and onto the beautiful Tara Valley on a narrow winding bitumen road which offers several picnic spots beside the river\, the Tara Falls and the rather grand Tara Valley Picnic Ground complete with rotundas at the top of the valley. SUMMARY:Yarra Valley Voyage Petite
DESCRIPTION:Morning Tea with Dame Nellie Melba \nThis run will provide the opportunity to sample some of the best the Yarra Valley has to offer. We will meet at Coombe – The Melba Estate at 9.30a.m. for brunch/morning tea. Coombe Cottage was established in the late 1800’s and was once the home of Australia’s famous opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. The property is still owned and operated by her descendants\, the Vestey family. \nLocated within the restored motor house and historic clock tower\, the restaurant caters for brunch\, lunch and afternoon tea\, 7 days a week with fabulous views of Dame Nellie’s beautiful gardens. It is very reasonably priced and also includes the Melba Gallery (which is definitely worth a look)\, as well as The Cellar Door. \nMoving on from Coombe at about 10.30am\, we will visit the Yarra Valley Farmers’ Market (only 5 minutes away from Coombe) in the Historic Barn at Yering Station where you can experience the most amazing range of local produce undercover. It offers everything from fresh\, seasonal fruit and vegetables\, a wide variety of home-made goodies through to the ever essential beauty products such as hand-creams and body sprays and much\, much more. Yering Station itself was established in 1838 as Victoria’s first vineyard. It is a magnificent property with excellent facilities and ample parking. \nAt about 11.30am\, we will then head off for lunch at The Toolangi Tavern (only 25 minutes from Yering Station)\, a classic country venue with an interesting history\, great food and a warm\, relaxed atmosphere\, overlooking the southern tip of the Great Dividing Range. Lunch is arranged for 12pm. Again\, the menu is excellent and very reasonably priced. Formerly the home of poet C.J. Dennis\, there is quite a bit to see in Toolangi\, i.e. The Kiwifruit Winery and David Williams Pottery to name just two. Both of these are open till 4pm. \nOn the way home\, if you choose to go back through Yering\, the Yarra Valley Dairy is well worth a visit. They make some absolutely delicious cheeses and local wines to tempt the palate\, as well as other local produce and gift items\, which are available for purchase. They are open until 5pm. There are also several well established wineries through Dixon’s Creek and Yering if you haven’t had enough by this stage. \nI have made tentative bookings for both Coombe and Toolangi Tavern for about 20 people. Numbers can be adjusted in both instances so I would appreciate an indication of likely participants prior to the day to avoid disappointment. Please email Val Gibson at vsgmjk@bigpond.com to confirm.

SUMMARY:Fiat Eco-Drive / Voyage Petite
DESCRIPTION:The Fiat Club has again invited us to another of their Eco-Drives on Sunday 12th July. This date has been shown as a “Voyage Petit” so why not combine the two activities as this is definitely not a competition. \nThe event is plotted and referenced to a Melway directory\, using enjoyable secondary roads that are rarely used. Only sealed roads to encourage both modern and the older Peugeots. The course is changed every year and is now less than 120 km. The start is at Hungry Jacks at Knox City Shopping Centre\, on Burwood Highway. You need to arrive there with a full tank ready to start. Registration from 08:00 to 08:30 and underway by 09:30. \nVarious Hybrid and Electric vehicles now available on the market are invited to participate as they may well be the future of motoring for many of us\, and that may be sooner than we may think. \nAs most of the vehicles have heaters\, regardless of the weather\, all those occupants should be quite warm\, all the way to the finish location at LaPorchetta in Pakenham. There the fuel efficiencies are tallied while everyone (else) relaxes and enjoys a meal during the telling of tall stories (bragging?) \nSupport this event as it is fun and a low stress event. \nAny questions contact Peter Kerr: Ph. 9890 1816 or petekerr@optusnet.com.au

SUMMARY:DECA
DESCRIPTION:Have a go at motorsport in a safe environment  \nOver the years this friendly event\, held at the Driver Education Centre at Shepparton\, has proved hugely popular with families and juniors\, experienced and inexperienced motor sport participants. Take part in Milton’s Meander on the way to Shepparton on Saturday\, then catch up for a meal at Milton Grant’s hotel (the Terminus Hotel) ready for some fun at DECA on Sunday. \nWhat’s on offer?  Tests will be run side by side on the concrete skid pan. Most tests will be long and fast\, with and without water from the newly renovated sprinkler system. \nWho should come?   DECA is a great opportunity to have a go\, with instruction if you want. Newcomers\, juniors and especially girls (all ages) are encouraged to come along. Absolute juniors\, under supervision\, will be able to drive free on the skid pan during the lunch break. \nInterstate participants are also most welcome. \nThirty (30) places will be available so make sure you register asap. \nWhat cars are suitable?  Any standard road car including modern ones. As a PCCV organised event we hope French cars will compete but you are welcome to invite your non-French car friends to come along. [NOTE:  A maximum of 4 drivers per car.] \nCost:  $60 per adult and $30 per junior (12 -<18 years old). Participants will also require a Non-Speed CAMS licence\, or a one day\, come and try licence is available for $25. [NOTE: A senior’s annual NS licence is $77 while junior’s annual licence is $25 – obviously a better deal than a one day licence] \nAnything else?  Lunch is usually a highlight so bring a picnic\, or food to BBQ\, plus chairs etc. \nTo enter: download entry form here. \nPDF Motorkhana regs DECA 28 Jun 2015 Motorkhana regs DECA 28 Jun 2015 \nWord doc Motorkhana regs DECA 28 Jun 2015 \nContact: Phil Torode (phil@bidwriter.com.au 0432 107 301) or Graham Wallis (ewal7731@bigpond.net.au 0429 939 619). \nEntries should be completed and sent to Phil by Friday 26 June\, 2015 to be sure you have a place.
