SUMMARY:Cup Weekend at Koondrook
DESCRIPTION:Are you coming to Kakadu? (of the south that is). \nCome and join us in Koondrook and explore the area around the wetlands in this part of northern Victoria. The main accommodation is at the Murray Waters Motor Inn. If you contact them make sure that they understand that you are with the Peugeot Car Club as there has been an issue when one member was told the motel was booked out – it is\, but it is booked out to us! Phone 5453 2300. The motel encourages people to cross the road to The Long Paddock for breakfast. Alternatively you could be self sufficient. \nThere is a basic caravan park next to the motel. Across the river in Barham is one that has several cabins available. There are also other motels here. \nWe will visit some small entrepreneurial businesses. These hopefully will include making products from goat milk\, Berkshire pigs\, Avocado growing\, a night photographer. \nI plan to put our cars on display in Garden Park\, beside the Gunbower Creek\, as part of the Cohuna Festival and we can visit the Farmers Market at the same time. \nWe will not have long drives each day but aim to explore close to our accommodation. \nOur celebration dinner will be aboard the Wetlander for a cruise on Gunbower Creek travelling through some of the red gum forest. Celebration? We are celebrating 70 years for the 203 and 50 years for the 504\, and we are celebrating Worm Drives just because they deserve it! \nHave you found Koondrook on the map yet? It is at the western end of Gunbower Island\, the largest inland island in Australia. It is formed between the Murray River and Gunbower Creek which is a branch of the main river and is over 20km long. Some of you might like to explore the island and I am sure I know one member who would willingly lead you on the dirt tracks. However my commitment is for sealed roads but living in a rural area means there will be some dirt. \nWhen you make your booking please let me know so that I have numbers for catering. \nFor further information contact Allan Horsely or me – Glenn Hall –\nPh. 5456 3100\, hall.glenn@yahoo.com.au

SUMMARY:Ladies Night celebrating the Paris Motor Show
DESCRIPTION:The Club will be staging a Ladies Night to celebrate the Paris Motor Show which is singularly the world’s busiest automotive event\, held this year at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. \nThe fabulous 203 was launched at the 1948 Paris Motor Show\, and at the 1968 show\, the innovative 504 debuted. \nOur evening event will be held at the VDC Clubrooms and will be fully catered for.  \nHillard’s Roasting Spits (who are Melbourne’s favourite spit roast caterers and have done similar functions for the VDC) will provide us with a delicious three course menu to make the evening special. The menu will consist of French Onion Soup for entree\, a choice of prime spit roasted beef and/or chicken\, jacket potatoes and a buffet style smorgasbord for main course\, along with a selection of tempting desserts. \nThis will be a great opportunity to socialise\, mix and mingle without the formalities of a general meeting and to catch up with people you may not see all that often and enjoy their company over a great dinner. \nFor those wishing to attend\, there will be a cover charge of $50 per person to cover the meal. PCCV will provide wine\, tea and coffee but you are also welcome to BYO if you prefer. Dinner will be served from 7pm. \nAny special dietary needs (vegetarian or coeliac) can be catered for but you will need to advise me ASAP. \nTo participate in this special evening\, please email Val Gibson at vsgmjk@bigpond.com or call 9728 3096 by no later than Friday October 5.

SUMMARY:Mussels by the Bay
DESCRIPTION:A culinary adventure on the Bellarine Peninsula \nIf the sound of locally sourced seafood delights from “Mussels by the Bay” Portarlington\, hand crafted gin from a boutique distillery\, The Whiskery Bellarine\, and a casual cruise on the Bellarine Peninsula is appealing\, or you just want an excuse to be out and about to catch up with friends\, this is an event for you. \nWe will meet up at the Water Front Kitchen Deakin University Café on Western Beach Road\, Geelong at 10am to start the day off with coffee and cake. If coming from Melbourne via the M1 Princess Highway leave the Freeway taking the turn off to the left A10 for Geelong City Centre\, the Ford factory with its large sign will eventually appear on your left a good place to zero your trip meter. At 2.6kms on from the sign you will pass under an overpass where you will see signage and a turning lane for Geelong City Centre via Scenic Route\, Bell Parade off to the left. Take this turn and continue along\, as it curves to the right it becomes The Esplanade further along again it becomes Western Beach Road. \nAt 5.2km there are traffic lights on the intersection with Geringhap Street\, from here look for a park (all parking is free on Sundays) as the Water Front Kitchen is at 5.4km\, look for the yellow umbrellas in front of the multi-storey red brick Deakin University building on the right opposite Cunningham’s Pier.\nThat’s where the adventure begins.\nWe look forwards to seeing you there! \nIf you can make it let me know so I have an idea of numbers. SUMMARY:METEC Khanacross at Kilsyth
DESCRIPTION:PCCV Khanacross at METEC\, Kilsyth\nSunday 6 May\n \nNow is the time to support your club and have fantastic fun driving around a great hard surface complex against the clock. We shall even provide side by side tests to run against a friend. \nSunday 6th May\, PCCV is organising a khanacross around the METEC driver training complex on Colchester Rd Kilsyth. Their ground layout will provide us with several testing courses on bitumen and concrete\, starting from different garages located around a central assembly area\, so you are able to watch all the action of other drivers. \nMost of the tests require some 2nd gear driving\, through chicanes or sharp turns every 150 metres. Imagine having a fast drive around a shopping centre carpark. That’s what it will be like. One area even has the capability of us adding water to make it more interesting to drive on. \nYou will need an Australian Standards approved helmet and a fire extinguisher fitted to your vehicle. It must be bolted in\, not simply placed under the seat. The cost to compete is $95 or $45 for juniors. As venue hire is quite expensive\, we need about 30 entrants for a successful day. \nA CAMS level 2NS licence is required and entries must be completed at least 2 weeks prior to May 6 or you will miss out. Entries will close on Sunday 22 April\, no exceptions. \nContact Allan Horsley allan.horsley@bigpond.com. \nSupp Regs and Entry Form  METEC-Khanacross060518-SuppRegs&EntryForm \n

SUMMARY:MGCC Youth Challenge at Rob Roy
DESCRIPTION:MGCC Youth Challenge at Rob Roy \nSunday 22 April \nThe Youth Challenge is open to all cams licensed junior drivers in Victoria (minimum non-speed licence required). The event is also open to the parents/grandparents of junior drivers who enter with their child/grandchild providing they too hold a CAMS licence (minimum non-speed licence required). We are hoping that this will provide both the parents/grandparents of entrants the opportunity to compete along side them (but in a separate over 18yo class) \nIt is a great event where the juniors compete in an OST\, Motorkhana and Khanacross all on the same day in back-to-back driving events. It is a truly unique event that is held at the MGCC Rob Roy facility. \nWhilst “competitive” drivers do best\, the event has been specifically developed to suit all junior drivers from the beginner to those of greater skill level so as to promote participation over competition. A promotional ‘goodie’ bags given to all participants. The entry is $50 and this will include the provision of a long sleeve Youth Challenge t-shirt for junior drivers. \nAn instructor/”parent helper” is able to sit with a junior driver where it is considered appropriate. \nRepco are again providing prizes this year for 1st 2nd 3rd place. Additional prizes may be available for announcement on the day. For example: in 2017 we were able to make an award for the “most improved” young driver. \nSup Regs can be found here: www.mgcc.com.au \nIt is hoped that by opening up this event to those who bring the junior drivers along will increase the field and fun for the day. Will the children outpace the old folks! \nAdrian Hunter – yow@mgcc.com.au

SUMMARY:Romsey BYO Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Romsey BYO picnic \nSaturday 14 April \nIn April the club is planning a BYO picnic at Nacooma Farm\, the property of Peter Gallagher\, Erin and John Lidgerwood\, who has been a PCCV member for almost 20 years. \nOlder club members will remember that back in the 1950s and early 60s Romsey was a popular spot for the members of the young club to try out their 203s at barrel races\, flag events and out-and-out sprints. \nLike most things the 203s and their owners are a little more delicate these days\, so the risky sporting events will have to be a fond memory. \nSo lunch will be on the lawns of a lovely property with views of the mighty Macedon Ranges – a pretty good compromise. BYO everything\, but there is no barbecue\, so make allowance for that. Hot water will be available and there are toilets\, of course. \nJohn\, who lists a pretty 203 among his impressive car collection\, might even be persuaded to entertain us with a song or two. \nThe property itself is a fascinating place as it was established as a deer farm\, then converted to an emu farm and is now a sheep farm that can contain even the most athletic sheep. \nThe watering and power systems are great examples of what can be done with some brainpower and modern technology with a container housing all the systems. \nWe expect to have two convoys arriving at the farm about 11am on the Saturday. One lot will come via Wallan Saturday market and the other via a café in Romsey. \nThere will be full details in April Torque\, but if you want to go\, please register with me ASAP because space is limited. \nPaul Watson\, 0427 203 206

DESCRIPTION:Peugeot Pageant at Easter 2018\, Boonah\, Queensland \nFriday 30 March to Monday 2 April \nhttp://www.peugeotclubqld.org.au/2018%20pageant.html \nThe Scenic Rim\, which is the site of this year’s Peugeot Pageant in Queensland\, is a group of forested mountain ranges straddling the border between South Eastern Queensland and North Eastern NSW. \nIf you have not already registered for the 2018 Pageant in Queensland\, I would urge you to give it serious consideration because it is well worth the trip. If you think it is too far and if you prefer not to drive\, or make a short holiday out of it\, there is always the option of flying direct to Brisbane and hiring a car to get you to Boonah which is only an hour and a half away. \nThe Outlook\, which is the venue that Queensland used for their 2014 Pageant\, is absolutely fabulous and totally self contained. Modern and very comfortable\, it is an accommodation\, conferencing and events facility supported by the Queensland Government.  As members of PCQ as well as PCCV\, Murray and I attended the 2014 Pageant and could not fault the venue in any way shape or form. We have already registered for this year’s event and are looking forward to it immensely. \nBreakfast\, lunch and dinner are provided on site\, all of which are excellent. If you want more privacy\, there are a couple of motels close by which can cater for your needs. It is entirely up to you!! Your Pageant Registration Fee covers all meals and accommodation if you stay at the Outlook. If you choose to stay elsewhere\, your meal costs will be included in your registration fee but you will need to let the organisers know. \nThe concours\, motorkhana or driving skills (or whatever does or doesn’t take your fancy) are run on the Outlook Complex which is great that it means that we don’t have to travel to different locations. You can choose to participate (or not) in any event. It is totally your choice. If you choose not to do anything\, you can relax in a beautiful\, tranquil environment and chill out. \nBoonah forms part of the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland and takes in Lamington National Park\, the beautiful Tamborine National Park and Tamborine Mountain itself which is an absolute delight in terms of retail therapy which you won’t find anywhere else\, as well as numerous places to have coffee\, beer\, food or whatever else takes your fancy. \nSome things to consider when planning your trip to Queensland\, especially if you are considering extending your stay in the Sunshine State include: \n• The Commonwealth Games are being hosted on the Gold Coast 04/04/2018 to 15/04/2018? There are still tickets available for some fantastic sporting events. www.gc2018.com \n• The Humpback Whales are on their yearly migration to North Queensland and are a sight not to be missed! \nwww.brisbanewhalewatching.com.au \nDiscover the very beautiful Tamborine Mountain. It is only a 75km drive from Boonah and has attractions to appeal to all tastes. With places to stay\, eateries\, markets to indulge the need for retail therapy\, galleries\, gardens and nurseries\, it is well worth a visit. \nwww.discovertamborine.com.au \nThe Queenslanders made a great representation at our Pageant in Merimbula in 2017 and I would like to think PCCV members would reciprocate in a similar manner\, specifically in the interests of club fellowship and what the Peugeot Car Clubs of Australia stand for. \nAs members of PCQ\, Murray and I are keen to promote this event\, call Val Gibson on (03)97283096 or email me at vsgmjk@bigpond.com   \nWe can discuss your requirements and if need be\, I can assist with getting things organised for you through PCQ. \nThe 2018 Pageant Committee has extended registration and there is still plenty of accommodation at the Outlook\, as long as you are paid in full by 14 March 2018. \nVal Gibson

SUMMARY:Slippery Dip – Millgrove
DESCRIPTION:Just one week after PCCV members show off their pride and joys at the French Car Festival\, we now have the opportunity to show off some driving skills. Can you drive well under slippery conditions? A Slippery Dip is lots of fun while honing your driving skills. Any Peugeot is OK to compete in. It will probably get a bit dirty or maybe covered in mud\, nothing that a good wash won’t fix. This is a great day for the kids (over 12 years old) and the less competitive members. The challenge is to see how far you can drive up a slippery slope. This event is usually the highlight of the PCCV competition year\, thanks to Jeff Gill who welcomes members and friends to his Millgrove property for a day of fun competition and lots of socialising. BYO goodies to cook on Jeff’s BBQ\, steak and salads or just some sandwiches\, if you are feeling really lazy\, just pick up a cooked chook on the way. Don’t forget some drinks to celebrate your incredible driving\, or to drown your disappointment and embarrassment if you do not perform well. \nIf you don’t want to embarrass yourself or get your car dirty\, you can still participate as one of the much-needed observers to run this event. \nWe would like some indication of members likely to attend\, just to make planning easier. Please contact Glad Fish gladfish@netspace.net.au or 0410 148 058 for further information. \nTurn up at Jeff & Sue Gill’s property by 10am\, look for signs near the end of Dee road\, Melway map 289 A1\, only one hour’s drive from Melbourne.
