SUMMARY:Ballarat Weekend
DESCRIPTION:As in previous years\, this is a very low-key social event\, organised by Glenn and me\, and includes driving\, chatting\, eating and drinking (coffee of course). \nWe will gather from 11am on the Saturday\, at the Vagg compound at 747 Midland Highway\, Mount Rowan\, where you will be able to have a look around the workshop and museum or just a catch-up chat. To reach Mount Rowan from Melbourne follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland Highway\, A300)\, turning right towards Creswick. Then drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left.  \nBYO lunch. There will be a BBQ available if you want to cook a snag or two\, and there will be prizes for everyone in a free raffle. Or if you plan to have lunch on the way you should be at Mount Rowan at 1pm so you can join us for the leisurely drive\, where we will be checking out a shed and ending up with a good coffee.  \nDinner on Saturday evening will be at Ballarat Golf Club\, which always puts on a good meal. If you wish to stay the night the Bell Tower Inn is just across the road (see below). \nFor the Sunday\, we are planning a lovely coffee spot\, a visit to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and then finishing with lunch from which you will be able to head home. If you are planning to join us for Sunday lunch only\, please let me know as we may need to provide numbers to the venue. \nIf needed\, there will be further updates in the PCCV News emails in the week prior to the event in February. \nIf you plan to stay on the Saturday night\, we recommend the Bell Tower Inn (within walking distance of the Golf Club) at 1845 Sturt Street\, phone 5334 1600. I have reserved eight double rooms\, for $135 a night\, and one twin room for $150 a night under the name of Peugeot Car Club (or if that doesn’t work\, try my name or the reference number 72778. When booking you will need a credit card and a mobile number. Rooms must be booked before January 8\, after which I will unreserve any rooms that are left unbooked.  \nIf you plan to take part in the dinner on the Saturday please confirm your attendance with me on 0407 271 972 or email paula.glenn@bigpond.com by Saturday 25 January 2020. \nWe look forward to seeing you. \nPaula Vagg

SUMMARY:Milton's Longer Meander
DESCRIPTION:This meander will be a prelude to the Test and Tune event at Swan Hill on the Sunday.  \nThe meander will start at Woodend (coffee time)\, travel to a gold town for lunch and on to the only inland World War II RAAF flying boat base before getting to Swan Hill with plenty of time to get settled. \nOn Saturday night we will have a social event organized.  \nOctober should see the northern country at its best.  \nAccommodation details will be published in Torque soon. \nWhy not come for the drive and stay? Swan Hill has a number of attractions to explore\, including the Pioneer Museum (great light and sound show) Buller wines at Beverford\, and the Speewa punt.    \nOn the Sunday there will be an opportunity for PCCV drivers to participate in the Test and Tune\, in which drivers can take a passenger\, while others provide moral support.  \nThe twin track/side-by-side autocross is suitable for most road cars. Do the autocross and/or Test & Tune\, or enjoy a social weekend away and spectate.

SUMMARY:Holinger Engineering visit
DESCRIPTION:Holinger Engineering visit Tuesday 28 May \nOn the evening of Tuesday 28 May PCCV has been invited to visit Holinger Engineering at 12-14 Southfork Drive\, Kilsyth\,.at 6:30pm. \nThis factory is one of the most computer-integrated engineering factories in Australia. You will see both multi-axis computer numerical control (CNC) machines\, the computer drawing office that feeds them and it will all be explained by staff who are very hands-on. For those with even a smidgen of technical interest it is a visit which will fascinate you. \nHolinger Engineering has a long and high-quality history. It commenced at the time of the Repco Brabham engine\, for which Peter Holinger was part of the manufacturing team. After this Peter and his wife Beverley manufactured VW gearbox-based Formula Ford gearboxes in the back shed at Bradleys Lane in Warrendyte.  \nThe next move was to Railway Parade in Croydon\, where the move to CNC machining and computer design commenced. It was here that the 5/6 speed gearbox for Nissan and the Holden Dealer Team and then all the V8s was born.  \nThe acquisition of more CNC machines resulted in a move to Research Drive in South Croydon. Here the 5/6 speed gearbox was expanded\, modified and applied to other cars such as BMW and Porsche GT3. Development performance gearboxes were manufactured for several Asian manufacturers\, both front and rear-drive.  \nYet again the factory needed more space and moved to Southfork Drive\, Kilsyth\, just off Canterbury Road. Shortly after the move Peter\, its creator\, came to the end of a very interesting and creative life\, but the factory continues on. \nCome and see a factory that makes the very best. Please call Peter Kerr on 9890 1816 and he will book you a place.

The cost to compete is $80 or $40 for juniors between 13 & 18 yo. \nThe ground layout will provide us with several testing courses on bitumen & concrete through chicanes & turns every 150 meters or so. Imagine having a fast drive around a shopping centre carpark in 2nd gear -that’s what it will be like. All tests basically start around a central assembly area to enable participants to watch all the action of other drivers. \nYou will need an Australian Standards approved helmet and fire extinguisher fitted to your vehicle. At minimum\, a CAMS level 2NS licence is required and entries must be received by Friday 12April. For first timers to motorsport ‘Come & Try’ licences will be available on the day for $25. \nWe really need people to officiate on the day – this could be timing\, helping run tests or simply observing. Bring a friend to help on the day if you can. Training will be provided. \nCatering will be available all day. \nContact Phil Torode to let me know your willingness to help. Email phil@bidwriter.com.au\nPhone – 0432 107 301 – https://www.facebook.com/phil.torode \nMany participants\, and helpers\, will ensure we have a successful day. \n \nThe Supp Regs and Entry form are attached below. \nEither email or mail the completed entry form to Glad Fish gladfish@netspace.net.au\n66 Blue Ridge Rd. Dewhurst 3808.  phone 0410 148 058 \nPreferred payment method – EFT to BSB 033-070\, PCCV account: 730763 (Use reference: Khana plus surname e.g.\, KhanaJones and send proof of payment with entry). Then drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left. \nBYO lunch\, there will be a BBQ available if you want to cook a snag or two\, and there will be prizes for everyone in a free raffle. Or alternatively if you plan to have lunch on the way you should be at Mt Rowan at 1pm so that you can join us for the leisurely drive\, where we will be checking out a shed and ending up with a good coffee.  \nDinner on Saturday evening will be at Sebastopol Bowling Club\, which always puts on a good meal.  \nFor the Sunday\, we are planning a lovely coffee spot and then another leisurely drive to a shed\, and then finishing with lunch\, from which you will be able to head home. \nThere will be a further update in the February Torque and if needed in the PCCV News emails in week prior to the event in February. \nIf you plan to stay on the Saturday night\, we recommend the Begonia City Motor Inn (within walking distance of the Bowling Club) on the Midland Highway in Sebastopol\, phone 5335 5577 and speak to Justin. I have reserved seven double rooms\, for $108 a night\, and one twin room for $117 a night under the name of Peugeot Car Club.
