SUMMARY:PCCV Concours at Clubrooms
DESCRIPTION:As expected\, the British and European Motoring Show has been cancelled because of the disruption caused by the pandemic. \nThis is good news for the PCCV because we can now have our own concours at the Nunawading clubrooms on Sunday 28 February. \nWe will assemble at 10am\, lining up the cars facing outwards\, and judging will commence at noon. \nAll the facilities of the clubrooms (toilets\, shelter\, tables and chairs\, hot water urn etc) will be available\, and the club will provide a FREE barbecue lunch\, plus drinks of all kinds. \nThere will even be cakes for afternoon tea. \nAs an added attraction\, club merchandise will be available\, so you can update your collection of club merchandise\, even worm-drive oil filters and diff oil. \nAll you need to bring is your spouse/best friend/significant other\, your newly washed and polished car\, and a folding chair (if you want to sit outside). \nThis is a great opportunity to get together for an event that’s normally held many kilometres away. \nSo mark the date in your diary\, lavish some love on your car\, and we’ll see you there.

SUMMARY:Mt Gambier Hillclimb
DESCRIPTION:Mt Gambier’s South Eastern Automobile Club is running the Twin Peaks Port MacDonnell Hillclimb on 6 and 7 February. \nSeveral club members\, including Bill Hamilton and Graham Wallis\, are planning to compete. \nResults will count towards PCCV competition points. \nThe field is limited to 60 entries and places are limited so you are advised to enter ASAP. See the link below. \nGraham says the Blue Lake Motel has five rooms left at around $80 a night. Looks like you will need to apply for a permit to re-enter Victoria\, but that will be just a formality if SA stays “green”. \nhttp://www.seacsa.com/events/all-events/2021-02-06/twin-peaks-port-macdonnell-hillclimb/

SUMMARY:Ballarat Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Ballarat weekend \n30-31 January \nThe annual Ballarat weekend is a very low-key social event\, organised by Glenn and me\, and includes driving\, chatting\, eating and drinking (coffee of course). And you can participate in the Saturday or the Sunday\, or both. Please let me know if you intend to attend\, so that I can advise any venues that we are going to of numbers\, particularly in our new Covid world. \nWe will gather from 11am on the Saturday\, at the Vagg compound at 747 Midland Highway\, Mount Rowan\, where you will be able to have a catch-up chat and kick tyres.  \nTo reach Mount Rowan from Melbourne follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland Highway\, A300)\, turning right towards Creswick. Then drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left. This is a busy road\, so please take care. \nBYO lunch. There will be a BBQ available if you want to cook a snag or two\, and there will be prizes for everyone in a free raffle. Or have lunch on the way if it suits you better. \nAt this stage we are planning a drive in the local environs\, leaving the compound around 2.30\, and depending on the restrictions around Covid\, we may have to have a coffee van and afternoon tea at the compound which will allow plenty of time to visit the Peugeot History shed\, check out the workshop and make new friends.  Alternatively\, a coffee spot during the drive may be organised. \nDinner on Saturday evening will be at Ballarat Golf Club\, which always puts on a good meal. We had a great time here last February. \nWe have booked eight double (Queen) rooms @ $140 and one twin room @ $155 at the Bell Tower Inn (within reasonable walking distance of the Golf Club) at 1845 Sturt Street\, phone 5334 1600. Please quote booking number 82273. To be fair to the motel\, I will be unreserving any unbooked rooms around the 10th of January\, so please book by then if you can. \nThe motel will provide a refund if the event has to be cancelled because of Covid-19. (Keep an eye on the PCCV’s weekly News Events & Ads emails for advice on the Covid situation and any updates regarding the weekend.) If you don’t receive the updates via email\, and want to come to the weekend and be kept up to date\, please let me know and I will keep in touch. \nPlans for the Sunday drive are still being finalised\, but we promise it will be unforgettable\, then finishing with lunch from which you will be able to head home. If you are planning to join us for Sunday lunch only\, please let me know on 0407 271 972 or email paula.glenn@bigpond.com as we will  need to provide numbers to the venues. At this stage\, the plan is to begin Sunday’s activities from the Vagg compound. \nWe look forward to seeing you.

But he has an affection for Peugeots.  \n“Peugeot people are more sophisticated\,” he says. \nDon’t miss the interview with John on the PCCV Facebook page from 8pm on 4 December.

SUMMARY:403 celebration Phillip Island
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 8 March \n2020 is the 60th anniversary of the first Armstrong 500 at Phillip Island\, in which Peugeot 403s excelled. \nGeoff Russell’s car won its class and Peugeot also won the teams prize. This achievement was repeated in 1961. \nTo mark the 403’s successes the club plans to mount a display at the Phillip Island circuit during the Historics meeting on the weekend of 6-8 March 2020. \nWe hope to have at least half a dozen 403s on display and we are investigating the possibility of having one car adorned with the racing numbers of the 1960 class winner. \nThere will be more information about this event in the new year.

SUMMARY:Ballarat Weekend
DESCRIPTION:As in previous years\, this is a very low-key social event\, organised by Glenn and me\, and includes driving\, chatting\, eating and drinking (coffee of course). \nWe will gather from 11am on the Saturday\, at the Vagg compound at 747 Midland Highway\, Mount Rowan\, where you will be able to have a look around the workshop and museum or just a catch-up chat. To reach Mount Rowan from Melbourne follow the Western Freeway and take the third Ballarat exit (the Midland Highway\, A300)\, turning right towards Creswick. Then drive about 2km until you see the Peugeot flags on the left.  \nBYO lunch. There will be a BBQ available if you want to cook a snag or two\, and there will be prizes for everyone in a free raffle. Or if you plan to have lunch on the way you should be at Mount Rowan at 1pm so you can join us for the leisurely drive\, where we will be checking out a shed and ending up with a good coffee.  \nDinner on Saturday evening will be at Ballarat Golf Club\, which always puts on a good meal. If you wish to stay the night the Bell Tower Inn is just across the road (see below). \nFor the Sunday\, we are planning a lovely coffee spot\, a visit to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and then finishing with lunch from which you will be able to head home. If you are planning to join us for Sunday lunch only\, please let me know as we may need to provide numbers to the venue. \nIf needed\, there will be further updates in the PCCV News emails in the week prior to the event in February. \nIf you plan to stay on the Saturday night\, we recommend the Bell Tower Inn (within walking distance of the Golf Club) at 1845 Sturt Street\, phone 5334 1600. I have reserved eight double rooms\, for $135 a night\, and one twin room for $150 a night under the name of Peugeot Car Club (or if that doesn’t work\, try my name or the reference number 72778. When booking you will need a credit card and a mobile number. Rooms must be booked before January 8\, after which I will unreserve any rooms that are left unbooked.  \nIf you plan to take part in the dinner on the Saturday please confirm your attendance with me on 0407 271 972 or email paula.glenn@bigpond.com by Saturday 25 January 2020. \nWe look forward to seeing you. \nPaula Vagg

SUMMARY:Milton's Longer Meander
DESCRIPTION:This meander will be a prelude to the Test and Tune event at Swan Hill on the Sunday.  \nThe meander will start at Woodend (coffee time)\, travel to a gold town for lunch and on to the only inland World War II RAAF flying boat base before getting to Swan Hill with plenty of time to get settled. \nOn Saturday night we will have a social event organized.  \nOctober should see the northern country at its best.  \nAccommodation details will be published in Torque soon. \nWhy not come for the drive and stay? Swan Hill has a number of attractions to explore\, including the Pioneer Museum (great light and sound show) Buller wines at Beverford\, and the Speewa punt.    \nOn the Sunday there will be an opportunity for PCCV drivers to participate in the Test and Tune\, in which drivers can take a passenger\, while others provide moral support.  \nThe twin track/side-by-side autocross is suitable for most road cars. Do the autocross and/or Test & Tune\, or enjoy a social weekend away and spectate.
