Feedback from last year’s member questionnaire indicated there was a great deal of support for relaxed Sunday outings, whether they be drives or picnics in a park. Members were also keen to see them run in different parts of Melbourne and nearby country areas to share the distances travelled. VOYAGE PETITES involve meeting somewhere interesting for coffee and, followed by a leisurely drive to a pleasant lunch venue and a spot of shopping for the ladies (community markets or village shops). These runs are generally no more than 100km from beginning to end so driving does not become onerous. LE CHATS are a BYO picnic/BBQ currently held at Ruffy’s Lake Park in Doncaster, but with plans to use other local parks across the Melbourne metropolitan area which do not attract large crowds on a Sunday and have good facilities. It is a lovely way to relax, kick tyres and enjoy the sunshine with fellow club members, with a nice glass of red and good company. At the Committee’s Planning Meeting in January, it was decided to actively seek expressions of interest from members who would be interested in assisting with organising either a Voyage Petite or a Le Chat around their local area. AS SOCIAL EVENTS SECRETARY, I WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO IS PREPARED TO HELP CO-ORDINATE ONE OF THESE SUNDAY OUTINGS. THESE EVENTS ARE INFORMAL, SOCIAL AND VERY RELAXED, AS WELL AS NOT OVERLY ORGANISED. IT IS SIMPLY A CASE OF COMING UP WITH IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR A GOOD AND INTERESTING LOCATION. I will assist with the organisation where required, as well as provide any level of support to anyone who is happy to volunteer their services.
