Alpine Rally starts on 29 November

The Alpine Rally is now just 2 weeks away. This is going to be a fantastic event, Todd Knight and Brian Ward will be competing in the 306 among the 98 other entries. Phil Torode and myself will be there in my 205 rally car as a set up and course opening car. Starts in Lakes Entrance on Friday and finishes on Sunday evening. I have a spare bed in Lakes Entrance on Thursday night as Phil won’t be coming down untill Friday evening also probably one on Sunday night. The organisers are desperate for officials and what better way to see the event up close, see message below. Contact Graham Wallis if you want to be involved in some way and we can get you organised. Graham Wallis [1] _Now that Rally Rally Victoria has finished the rallying focus in Australia turns to the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland._ _The excitement is high as 98 entrants from all over Australia will be lead away by international rallying star Alister McRae in Lakes Entrance on Friday week facing 450km of competitive stages over 3 days. The highlight on the Friday afternoon will be the Koni Toperformance Street Stage in the middle of Lakes Entrance._ _Alister McRae has completed the build of his new RS1800 Escort and I can tell you that it looks absolutely stunning in the testing footage I have seen._ _The biggest problem that organisers are facing is a severe shortage of officials. If you haven’t volunteered yet please do so as we are short by about 40% on what we need and Clerk of Course Russell Opie is already considering which stages will have to be cut if we can’t get enough people. There are vacancies for all jobs from Stage Commanders to Road Closure officials so please put your hand up and volunteer yourself for this once in a lifetime opportunity to see Australia’s best classic rally cars in the one event._ _To volunteer just go to the Alpine website and fill out the form on the Officials page [2] or contact our officials coordinator Jodi Mann on [3] but please don’t wait, do it now._ — _Owen Polanski_ _Ph: 0447 579 439_ _ [4]_ Links: —— [1] [2] [3] [4]
